Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for Primary Care

Training Schedule Description of the PAC PC Program  Agreement to Participate

CAP PC is New York State’s response to meet the public health need of its children and families with mental health needs.  CAP PC is a collaboration between the Departments of Psychiatry at the University at Buffalo, University of Rochester, Columbia University, SUNY Upstate, and Long Island Jewish/North Shore University.

What Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for Primary Care's New Phone Consultation Service Does and Does Not Do

CAP PC does:

  • Provide phone consultation services for PCPs across NY State*

  • Assist PCPs to better manage children/adolescents (to age 21) with mild-moderate mental health problems

  • Assist PCPs with linking and referring their patients to appropriate mental health services in their communities

CAP PC does NOT provide:

  • Emergency services or evaluations (we will help identify community emergency services)

  • Ongoing treatment for your patients

  • Support for the management of problems outside the scope of primary care practice

*CAP PC does not cover Albany and north region; the CAPES program does this (518-581-5015)
